 | The fuel that runs KQ is a mix of strong relationships, consistency, and cooperation. Strong relationships benefit the entire program by setting a godly example for the kids. The Kids Quest program employs several key factors that work together, like COGS, to produce a calm, fun, and inviting environment.
One of these "COGS" is consistency. This applies in several
situations, like rules, consequences, leaders, and program format. Consistency helps everyone know what to expect and provides a sense of security! |
Another important “COG” is cooperation. Each person on the leadership team possesses gifts and talents that are vital to the program; and every one is willing to learn something new and work at it until it gets comfortable. The leaders make it a point to cooperate with each other as an example to the kids. They regularly see the adult leadership team work together, pray together, worship together, support each other and respond quickly to each other’s needs. And, the leaders expect the kids to cooperate in following the rules, participating in worship, and engaging in the lesson activities.
The last big “COG” is relationships. The Leadership team “does life” together. We share our struggles and successes; we celebrate each others’ kids; we regularly make time to be together. The Leadership team intentionally forms relationships with the kids at Kidz Quest. We show genuine interest in the kids’ lives, taking time to share our own experiences when appropriate.
Through our Frequency program, KQ generates regular opportunities for the kids to build relationships with each other both while they’re serving, and during just-for-fun times. We want the kids to learn that it’s not all about doing stuff; it’s about being together, sharing experiences and enjoying each other!
